Here are some tips for blogging that companies can follow in order to gain full benefits of blogging for business.

• Always follow internet etiquette, practice self-restraint and use common sense- good communication and basic social etiquette remain the same whether you use traditional media or online media.

• Don’t make blogging such a chore- relax and have fun with it. Do not struggle with your stats and with chasing after internet traffic. The best way to go about blogging is to put out contents with value.  When people like what they read in your blog, they will personally recommend your blog by writing about it in their own blogs and other social media accounts. Partner with a virtual assistant to market your blog through other social media.  This way, blogging does not become a chore that is difficult and frustrating to do.  Blogging and the use of other social media are supposed to be informal and more fun ways of reaching consumers. 

• Link freely- post links to articles, websites and other materials online that you find worthy. Posting links to contents that are of value may be directing traffic out of your site but if your contents are worthy and you link to other sites that also provide value, then you will be able to establish yourself as a good blogger who provides value and readers will keep coming back.

• Blog under your domain name- this is incredibly important if you are blogging for brand-building.  You don’t have to host your own blog right away and spend a lot of money on blog hosting but you should invest on your own domain name.

• Think of a good domain name- it will hurt your blogging efforts if you start a blog with a domain name and then change it later on just when people are getting used to visiting your site through your original domain.  Make sure you choose a good name at the very start so that you won’t have to change your domain name later on.  Choose the name carefully and make sure the name is easy to remember, has a good ring to it and represents your company well.

• If you can afford it, invest on a professional blog template- this will also help in establishing your brand and your blog.

• Do not spam- do not spam other people’s blogs just so you can get the word out there about your blog. Post only appropriate comments.
